Atech Reid GP driver's Tio Ellinas and Dan Wells have started their race weekend on the Brands Hatch circuit on the right foot. Both drivers will start race one and two inside the top 5 in this weekend's round 9 of the CERTINA Formula Renault UK 2.0 Championship.New comer to the team, Geoff Uhrhane rounds out the field for tomorrows races but is confident that he will improve on his starting positions tomorrow.'I knew that is what going to be a tough ask starting the season so late.' The Australian stated 'But this weekend is a test for me, I am looking to improve every time I jump into the car and that has been the case so far. It is very different to a formula ford, even though I know the circuit quite well but I am really looking forward to the racing tomorrow.'Ellinas was top of the time sheets in both sessions today but was pushed to third in the dying stages of what has turned out to be a very similar starting grid for all drivers this weekend. None the less the 19 year old Cypriot is confident that he can produce another weekend of podium finishes.
'I always want to be inside the top 3 at the beginning of the race weekend.' Ellinas stated. 'I have achieved this goal but now I want to win the race. We only have this weekend and then Silverstone to round out the championship and I still have more fight in me and will push until the last lap of every race to chase the championship points down.'Dan Wells' stellar and consistent performance in both qualifying sessions today will see him start race one and two in P5. A red flag incident in Q2 interrupted the Salisbury drivers' best lap but he is feeling optimistic about the racing tomorrow.'I am really pleased with P5 today but I know there is more pace in the car and in me. I have been improving on my lap times, competiveness and consistency the whole season and I will really be pushing for a podium finish tomorrow.'The racing commences at 10 am at Brands Hatch this morning.
