Day two at Jerez - Montoya sets the pace again

As testing continues at Jerez it was Juan Pablo, driving the WilliamsF1 BMW FW26, who once again set the pace, posting yesterday’s fastest time at the Spanish track.  Despite overcast conditions in the morning, the weather improved throughout the day with temperatures reaching 21° C. Juan Pablo Montoya continued with set up work in the new WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 before concentrating on tyre evaluations for Michelin in the afternoon. The Colombian completed 86 laps posting his best time of 1:16.650 on his 44th lap.

Test driver Marc Gené was also on duty. The Spaniard set the second best time of the day in the FW25B as he focussed on tyre compound evaluations. Both Juan Pablo and Marc continue testing today.

Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1): "The team's had another constructive session at Jerez today with Juan Pablo recording the fastest time of the test again in the FW26. With the FW26, we've concentrated on optimising mechanical and aerodynamic set up options while Marc has continued with the intensive tyre testing programme using the FW25B. The new car seems to be responding positively so we're making good progress.“
