Collard Racing is to enter the Porsche Michelin Carrera Cup GB in 2004 with a two-car team that could include team boss Rob Collard.
One car is already confirmed for a racing newcomer, who will race the ex-Richard Westbrook 2003 race winning car. Though yet to be named, the newcomer will be tackling a series of club races in March in order to qualify for a National A race licence ahead of the opening Carrera Cup races.
However, with Collard's chances of securing a works BTCC drive reducing, the team boss is seriously considering contesting the Carrera Cup in a second car. "We'll run at least one car and I'm very tempted by the prize to do it myself," says Collard. The overall 2004 champion will pick up a brand new road-going Porsche Carrera, with a value of around £55,000.
"I'm still working on a BTCC drive, but this is an option," reported reigning BTCC independent champion Collard at the NEC. Alternatively, Collard will consider running a second customer car from his Hampshire base.
