Star Days of Thunder driver Colin White has shown his commitment to the Baby Grand racing series by having his Grand painted to match his full size Days of Thunder racer for the coming 2004 season.
The scaled-down NASCAR© Stock Cars may not be able to match the speed of a Days of Thunder racer, but Colin White feels they deliver a real race car experience, without the high race car expenditure that goes with competing in some of the other oval racing formulas.
"These are real race cars," he says of the Baby Grands, "they are fast and handle extremely well, without being overpowering to the point where novice drivers will feel intimidated by the car." White also felt that the car's size allowed for plenty of passing opportunities on the tighter oval circuits. "Because they are also reasonable to buy and run," he continued, "they also offer a great way for fans to get off the terraces and into racing."
"I had tremendous fun racing with the Baby Grands in 2003," White concluded, "and was only too happy to sign on for another season's racing with this exciting formula."
Alan Currall, the sole importer of the US-built Baby Grands, was delighted that Colin White would be back on the grid for 2004. "Colin is a star driver in whatever formula he races in," he commented, "and his commitment to race with the Baby Grands, despite his Days of Thunder schedule, shows how much fun he is having with this fast and affordable formula. The presence of a driver of Colin's calibre can only be good for the formula," he concluded.
