Bas Leinders continued Jordan Ford’s Barcelona test yesterday and was able to complete a number of laps in the afternoon after an unfortunate start to the day with an accident which significantly limited his track time.
James Robinson, Head of Race and Test Engineering, said “Bas Leinders was at the wheel on our second day of this test and again it was the driver’s first F1 test although Bas has driven at Barcelona before. Unfortunately he had an accident on the installation lap and we had to build the second chassis. Although this allowed us to return to the track, it took several hours to achieve which left about an hour of running at the end. Three red flags in this last period further reduced track time, allowing Bas to get four short runs (18 laps) before the final flag. The mechanics did another excellent job today building the car from a tub and the car ran faultlessly once we got out, a credit to good teamwork.”
Timo Glock will continue the test this morning and Nick Heidfeld will take over testing duties this afternoon and complete the session on Friday.
