Formula Renault - Motaworld confirms Jarvis will partner Formula Ford Festival winner Foster in 2004

Leading Formula Renault UK Championship team Motaworld Racing has announced 20-year old Oliver Jarvis (Burwell, Cambridgeshire) will join Formula Ford Festival winner Joey Foster (Truro, Cornwall) in 2004 as the Chatham-based squad begins to solidify its driver line-up for the coming season.

Both contested the 2003 Formula Renault UK Winter Championship with Motaworld – Jarvis finishing the campaign 14th overall while Foster took fifth in the standings and a best race result of second during Croft’s ‘Grand Final’ – and each looks likely to enjoy the taste of success this year as Motaworld aims to regain the series title it last won in 2001.

Speaking on his announcement, team boss Alan Waite said: “Anyone coming from Formula Ford to a slicks-and-wings category needs to learn a completely different technique but Oliver immediately got to grips with that, probably due to his expertise at a very high level in karting. He’s looking very good.”

Oliver Jarvis commented: “I’m absolutely ecstatic we’ve done this deal with Motaworld, the intention was always to race in Formula Renault UK this season. Testing with the team over the winter has allowed me to get more of a feel for things and I’m very happy with everyone at Motaworld.

“This year I’m certain Formula Renault UK is the class to be in. My immediate aim is to get used to the car as quickly as possible, push for good results and then take everything a step at a time from there. Having Joey as a team-mate will be good for me and will consequently be good for the team as a whole as we’ll certainly push each other along.”

Motaworld Racing expects to be in a position to confirm the remainder of its four-car 2004 line-up within the next few weeks. Jarvis and Foster are now preparing for an intensive testing programme at Guadix, Spain, during early February.
