BMW WilliamsF1 Team driver Juan Pablo Montoya topped the timesheets on the fourth day of testing yesterday at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, Spain. Once again, weather conditions for the penultimate day of testing were ideal, with blue skies, bright sunshine and temperatures reaching 18°C.
Juan Pablo Montoya posted the fastest time of the day, the Colombian lapping the 4.627 kilometre circuit in 1:14.800. At the wheel of a WilliamsF1 BMW FW26, Juan Pablo spent the day working on tyre evaluations with Michelin, completing 51 laps without any problems.
Antonio Pizzonia, also driving an FW26, carried out system checks. The Brazilian completed 50 laps, setting a best time of 1:15.099.
Nelson Piquet continued to familiarise himself with the car and the circuit in addition to working on set-ups. The Brazilian youngster, running an FW25, completed 51 laps and posted a personal best of 1:15.816.
Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1): "Antonio Pizzonia and Nelson Piquet picked up testing responsibilities alongside Juan Pablo today. Antonio concentrated on running systems checks today, while Juan focused on tyre testing. We had some interruptions but across the day managed a useful 700km or so. Nelson Piquet joined the programme today in an FW25 and made a good contribution.”
Todayis the last day of testing at Barcelona, with Juan Pablo and Antonio on duty once again.
