NayKid Racing Locks-In Lux For Three Years
With an eye towards retaining one ofthe most successful women race drivers in history, NayKid Racing ownerScotty B. White announced today that Cindi Lux would increase her rolewith the Puyallup, Washington-based organization. Lux, from PortlandOregon, has been named Managing Director of NayKid Racing and has signeda three-year contract extension to drive the No. 78 NayKid RacingChevrolet Corvette Z06. Lux, whose name is synonymous with motorsports'success, was the 2003 SCCA Northern Pacific Division T1 Champion andOregon National Driver of the Year. She and White teamed for the firsttime in 2003 with impressive results in the Sports Car Club of America(SCCA) T1 class.In her increased role with the team, Lux will direct many of thebusiness aspects of NayKid Racing including sponsor relations, driverdevelopment, supplier relations and the expansion of future newtechnologies. White and Lux will also work closely on decisions thatimpact the direction of the team in the future. Included among these newbusiness areas will be trackside support for the Corvette club trackdays and technical/chassis assistance for drivers. Other programs willinvolve corporate appreciation days for on-track driving programs aswell as endurance go-kart racing programs for businesses or groups.The 1999 Women's Global GT Series (WGGTS) champion in the American LeMans Series (ALMS), will also be organizing NayKid Racing's move intothe aftermarket performance product business. NayKid Racing-brandedperformance packages for C5 Corvettes will utilize the samehigh-performance products that the team uses in competition. This newrole takes advantage of Lux's successful motorsports' businessbackground as well as her position as one of the nation's topdevelopment and instructional drivers."I think this collaboration with Scotty is a fantastic progression forthe both of us," offered an enthusiastic Lux. "This is going to befantastic because it allows me to focus on some new areas of developmentfor the team. Scotty is a class act and, over the past five years, hasgrown NayKid Racing from a start-up to one of the most dominating teamsin amateur motorsports. His vision for the future really links well withmine. I am extremely eager to continue to share my knowledge of theindustry from both a driver and management perspective. But don't getthe wrong idea; I plan to be out there competing on the track for along-time to come. What Scotty and I are putting together here shouldcontinue to payoff for NayKid Racing well into the future. I want to bea part of that on the track."Beyond her WGGTS title, Lux has two Petit Le Mans Porsche GT starts inthe ALMS with two top-five finishes in 1999 and 2000, has earned eightroad racing championships with 60 career wins, 49 podium finishes and 37pole positions and two 24 hour race wins at Nelson Ledges. She scoredthree SCCA wins in 2003, a pole position, the Hard Charger Award atPhoenix and started and finished in the top-five at the Valvoline SCCARunoffs."I am really jacked-up that Cindi wants to hang with us on a long-termbasis," said White who, as a driver scored a remarkable tri-fectawinning the 2003 T1 Divisional title in the Southern Pacific SCCAdivision, as well as the '03 SCCA Pro Solo and Solo II classChampionships. "We're looking forward to expanding what NayKid Racingdoes and Cindi has the expertise and knowledge to take us further intodifferent places. Sometimes I am so involved in my trucking businessthat I can't always address things as quickly as I would like; havingCindi as the 'go-to' person is a great asset. NayKid Racing won 11 of 13 T1 races entered in 2003, earned 15 podiumfinishes, 11 pole positions and set six track records. Since itscreation in 1998, NayKid has earned six SCCA division T1 titles, as wellas five SCCA Pro Solo Championships and seven Solo II titles. The teammade history at Mosport in 1999 becoming the first Corvette team to wina SPEED World Challenge GT race. White finished as runner-up in Rookieof the Year honors that same year. Over the course of his two seasonparticipation in SPEED World Challenge GT, White finished in the top-10,an amazing 78% of the time!
