Dorian Rees maintained his consistency behind the wheel of a rally car when he finished a solid second overall on the Telford Winter stages at the Sweet Lamb Complex in Mid Wales. The result a repeat performance of the recent Red Kite Stages, with Rees finishing behind the vastly experienced driver, Graham Middleton in a World Rally Car.The Llanybydder driver, who has just over twelve months four wheel drive experience pushed his rival and his Group N Subaru Impreza hard throughout the day to finish the day just six seconds off the far more powerful machine and over five minutes ahead of the rest of the field. Having competed just five rallies in the Prodrive built Impreza, Rees has finished in the top three on four of the five outings with 2003 Welsh National Championship winning co-driver, Patrick Walsh, sitting alongside. "We have had another good result here today and we came very close to claiming our first win, which is still to come, but I have really enjoyed it. We put in some good times." The Welsh pair now head south to contest the Sunseeker Rally in Bournemouth later in the month. Rees will be venturing into unknown territory having never contested the rally. He also faces a tough challenge in the Group N showroom class with the rally qualifying for the Mitsubishi Challenge.
"It will be interesting to see how things go in Bournemouth in our class, it will be good to get a top ten result but our main aim will be to get a good result in the class and then see where we lie overall."
