German 21-year old Timo Glock will be Jordan Ford’s permanent third driver on Friday sessions at Grands Prix in the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship. Glock, who has tested for Jordan Ford at Barcelona and Silverstone, won three races and achieved a further three podiums in the inaugural Championship of the Formula 3 Euro Series last year.
Timo Glock said, “I´m very happy and proud that I can be part of Jordan Ford with a place in Formula One for the 2004 season. I thank the Jordan technical staff who made it possible for me to give a good performance at the Barcelona and Silverstone testing sessions recently. We have worked together successfully already and I’m looking forward to a fantastic time with them this year.”
Eddie Jordan said, “Timo Glock is one of the most promising young driving talents in Germany at the moment and I’m delighted that we are able to offer him a regular F1 testing role. He’s come up through the junior categories quickly and this will give him an invaluable opportunity to learn every Grand Prix circuit on the calendar. It’s a perfect training ground and will also help the team in terms of having another car’s data to assist with our preparation for each race. Timo has really impressed our engineers with his testing feedback and we are now hoping to guide him through this next stage of his career with the ultimate aim for him to become a Grand Prix driver of the future.”
