Team Goh, the Japanese team which enters and Audi R8 in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours and Le Mans Endurance Series, has entered two young Japanese drivers in the Formula X Sport Series. Haruki Kurozawa and Kazuyuki Nishizawa will share a car entered under the "Junior Team Goh" banner in the eight races which are organised as a support programme of the Le Mans Endurance Series.
"Mister Goh is a huge fan of classic endurance races such as the Le Mans 24 Hours," explains team manager, Torsten Robbens. "As such it is his wish to promote young Japanese drivers in sports cars. To achieve this it makes sense to let them take part in the Formula X Sport Championship, as that way they can learn the ropes with enough track time in a powerful car."
Needless to say series promoter, Claude Chantalla, is very pleased with this international recognition for the Formula X concept: "The official entry of two Japanese drivers with Team Goh proves that our concept is right on the mark. Around the Le Mans 24 Hours a number of races is being organised under the LMES banner and we are more than happy to be able to help support the resurrection of endurance racing in Europe. Other teams currently entered in the LMES are also looking at entering a Junior team in Formula X, which will allow them to form young drivers for their future endurance racing projects. The Formula X Sport Series creates a natural synergy by organising races at the same weekends, at the same tracks and in front of the international media which the LMES attracts."
Eric van de Poele shook down the new Formula X at the Lotus track in Norfolk last week. The new bodywork of the Formula X Sport, with its long tail and repositioned rear wing, will be shown to the public during the FIA GT Championshiup weekend at Monza on March 27th, and will be tested at the Paul Ricard track during the official test days of the "Le Mans Endurance Series" on April 6th and 7th, one month before the Monza 1000Kms, the first race of the 2004 Le Mans Endurance Series.
