Formula Ford, ten out of ten for Cammish

Dans the man at Oulton Park as the JTR driver secures his 10th consecutive Formula Ford victorySam Brabham makes it a 1-2 for JTR as he claims his maiden podium finish

Dan Cammish extended his victory run in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain to 10 this afternoon at Oulton Park, the Leeds 25-year-old leading every lap of the first of the weekends three races. Cammish once again started from the pole in his Mygale and built an early lead to secure the win. Sam Brabham made it a JTR team 1-2 after getting the better of a race-long battle with Juan Rosso.

Despite brake imbalance problems in qualifying, Cammish had secured top spot by a one-second margin and put pole position to perfect use with an impeccable grid getaway. Despite good starts from both Brabham and Falcon Motorsport driver Harrison Scott, Cammishs lead was 2.2s by the end of the opening lap.

Dan stroked out his advantage to almost seven seconds by mid-distance before easing his pace to preserve his tyres and claim a 3.9-second victory. My brakes were a lot better for the race, said Cammish. We had a bit of a think about the problem and I think were on top of it now. Im happy, its all good. I backed off towards the end, came back inside myself and did enough to maintain the gap.

Brabham, whose first experience of Oulton Park came in an abbreviated testing session yesterday, followed his team leaders example in making a great start to overhaul Scott on lap one, with South African Jayde Kruger slotting into fourth place for Jamun on his championship debut.

Krugers hopes faded on lap two when his ignition cut out and he lost time while resetting the system and restarting, and the battle for second between Brabham and Scott was joined by Rosso. They circulated as one for several laps until lap six, when Scott posted his first retirement of the season after clipping the tyres at the chicane and damaging his suspension.

Rosso played a waiting game until the final lap, closing right on to Brabhams rear wing as he prepared his bid to steal second. Alas for the Argentinian, he came unstuck at Knickerbrook, clipping the kerbs and spinning out.

That left Brabham clear to collect his maiden podium and the Scholarship class victory, and the third-generation racer was delighted: I had quite a lot of understeer through the faster corners and Juan was right on my backside. I really had to defend hard, and then I noticed he wasnt behind me any more and the pressure was off. Im delighted - a 1-2 for the team is great.

Rossos demise opened the way for his team-mate Maranzana, whose car was performing brilliantly given his heavy shunt in qualifying, to claim third, ahead of the recovering Kruger and Radical Motorsports James Abbott, whose fifth place in his new Mygale chassis was a season-best result. Were making good progress with the new car and now we just need to learn how to get the best from it. We are getting there, said James.

Andy Richardson, who started from pit lane after missing by seconds the deadline to get to the grid, struggled to sixth. We had the same sort of pace as everyone else, said Andy, so making any progress from the back was hard. Camren Kaminsky was the final finisher in seventh, the American pleased just to be on track after his car had to be repaired following a qualifying accident.

Round 11 of the championship, which will be screened live on ITV4, is scheduled for 1300 Sunday.
