WOLVERHAMPTON fought back from an early eight-point deficit to defeat in-form Lakeside 50-40 in a classic Elite League encounter on Monday.Wolves trailed 19-11 after five heats but hit back to secure maximum points with 5-1s in the last two races, Heat 15 seeing Freddie Lindgren and guest Scott Nicholls edge out Monmore specialist Peter Karlsson.Lindgren said: It's a great win for us - Lakeside are a really good side who came here after six wins in a row, but we put in a really good performance to take all the points."I think the key was the whole team never gave up, we kept fighting all the way through and everyone did something brilliant tonight to make an impact on the meeting.(SPEEDWAY 2)
PETERBOROUGHS Patrick Hougaard was kept in hospital overnight after an horrific crash at former home track Belle Vue.Hougaard, who had won his first ride, came to grief in Heat 4 of the Panthers eventual 49-41 defeat and suffered concussionalthough co-promoter Trevor Swales admitted it could have been much worse.Swales said: Its a big relief that nothing is broken for Patrick, although clearly with concussion it means we will have to look at booking a guest for the home match with Eastbourne on Friday. It was a horrible crash and I really feel if that hadnt happened, we would certainly have got something from the meeting, and quite possibly won it because Patrick looked to be riding so well.

POOLE have confirmed recent signing Przemyslaw Pawlicki will be available to ride in their important Elite League fixture with Birmingham at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.Pirates promoter Matt Ford had agreed to release fellow Pole Maciej Janowski for a Test Match against the Czech Republic, but was unwilling to go into the meeting without both riders.Ford said: Of course I appreciate that it is every rider's ambition to be invited to represent their nation, but if we had to lose both of our key Polish stars then we would have been seriously depleted for Wednesday night and it would have done nothing to help my business. So I am extremely grateful to Krystian Plech, Shamek's manager, who stepped in to help us resolve the problem and ensure that Shamek was released to us for the meeting.

COVENTRY will switch the start-time of their Friday home meetings to 7.30pm with immediate effect following last weeks delayed match against Kings Lynn. The Bees had previously run at 8pm but suffered track issues leading to a late finish against the Stars, and first meeting with the 7.30pm start will be the National League clash with Kent this Friday.Promoter Mick Horton said: We apologise to everyone for the wait they endured on Friday, and we recognise that its not ideal, especially when we all want families and children to come along. We feel that immediately moving to a 7.30pm start is a sensible thing to do, and obviously we are keen to ensure that the problems of Friday are not repeated.(SPEEDWAY 5)
