Sieders to honour the late Rodney Crick at Darwin

The Sieders Racing Team will pay tribute to Super Truck Racing legend, Rodney Captain Kangaroo Crick, when the Auto One V8 Ute Seriesprotected by Armor All heads to Darwins Hidden Valley Raceway this weekend, 14-16th June 2013.

Crick was a six-time Australian Super Truck Racing Champion and raced with the family-run motorsport operation in the early-1990s, before moving on to race the ex-Gary Wilmington Volvo N12, and the team will show their respect by running his iconic #7 on the V8 Ute of Dave Sieders for the Top End event.

One thing about Truck Racing, especially back in the 90s was that the friendships and camaraderie established back then were the type that would last forever, said Sieders Racing Team Owner, Luke Sieders, even though we were all rivals on track, we were all very good friends and family off the track.

Rod was one of the most respected truck racers in the country, and when I started in trucks, he was man I aspired to be, and so I have an enormous amount of respect for the man personally, and weve been good friends with the family since then.

I was commenting on the weekend that it would have only been seven or eight months ago that I was talking to Rod about having a run in the Utes, and we decided that running his number this weekend is something we could do to really show our respect to him and his family in his honour.Cricks passion and enthusiasm for the sport was evident by all who knew him, and he remained competitive right up until his last outing at Oran Park in 2005 where he bagged three race wins.

Crick also had a number of entries in the Bathurst 1000, with his best result coming in 1999 when teaming up with Paul Wheel for eighth outright.Rodney Crick was farewelled on Friday, 7th June, and is survived by his wife and three children.
