WORLD Champion Chris Holder rescued a draw for Poole with a stunning last-to-first ride in Heat 15 at Wimborne Road to deny Birmingham their fourth away win of the season. The Pirates, without regular boss Neil Middleditch, had earlier fought back from ten points down before Holder got the better of Ben Barker and Chris Harris, with the visiting duo holding Przemyslaw Pawlicki at the back to ensure two useful match points for the visitors.Poole promoter Matt Ford said: Just when I thought we had the best Pirates team on track for some time, Dawid Stachyra was feeling below par and now the injury curse has now struck our team manager, Neil Middleditchwho is in hospital having surgery on a hand injury. We wish Neil well. He would have been proud of the way in which the team clawed their way back with character against a very stubborn Birmingham side.(SPEEDWAY 3)
SHEFFIELD boss David Hoggard admitted his side had got out of jail in a dramatic Premier League draw with Plymouth at Owlerton. The Devils held a match-winning 4-2 almost throughout Heat 15 with Cory Gathercole up-front, but third-placed Mikkel Bech shed a chain on the last bend and fell, allowing Joe Haines through to make it 45-45.Hoggart said: Plymouth should have won tonight, they were in a winning position but Bech fell and we got the draw. Lets not pretend though, we got lucky tonight. There were still plenty of positives for us, but we did get a big slice of fortune.

SCUNTHORPE skipper David Howe suffered a suspected broken collarbone in a Heat 9 accident with team-mate Ryan Douglas at Redcar.Without Howe, the Scorpions battled back from 16-points down to now face a deficit of ten ahead of the second leg of the KO Cup tie on Friday, where Kevin Doolan quickly accepting a guest booking.Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: After David was ruled out of the rest of the meeting, Ashley Birks took over as captain and he got together and rallied our remaining riders. We were 16 behind and down to five riders, so we could have got thumped. But the lads really fought for every point. I feel weve left ourselves in a position where we have every chance to progress to the semi-finals of the cup. Weve got our first evening home meeting for over a month, which means we should be able to produce a good racing track that will suit our riders.(SPEEDWAY 5)
ISLE of Wight are looking to wrap up the National Trophy when they travel to Stoke on Saturday. The Potters are the only team who can catch the Islanders should they reel off a series of wins, although even if they slip up at Loomer Road the current leaders have a home match remaining, against Kent on Tuesday.Islanders co-boss Chris Hunt said: Having come this far we do not intend to mess up at this stage, and we are determined to lift this first major title of the season."Hopefully we'll do that at Stoke on Saturday as we go into every match with the attitude that we are going to win it and, so far this year, we've only lost one of the eight matches we've ridden in and so we'll be travelling to the Potteries this weekend brimming with confidence.
