LMP1
Loic Duval - #2 R18 e-tron quattro Audi, Audi Sport Team Joest (1st overall): "Yesterdays lap time was enough to defend the pole position. Thats why we scored a Championship point that may be decisive at the end of the year. Its always better to start from the pole position even though that doesnt really mean a lot at such a long race. Still, were happy about the top spot on the grid. Yesterday, we werent completely satisfied with the balance of our cars yet, but today the set-up was much better. As the track at the end was faster today than it was yesterday I was a bit worried that we might still lose the pole position. But in the end, we made it. Everything went according to plan. Thats why were very happy with the result."
Andre Lotterer - #1 R18 e-tron quattro Audi, Audi Sport Team Joest (2nd overall): "A brilliant result for the whole team. Im personally very pleased too because we improved by another position. But more important was the fact that our Audi felt quite a bit better than yesterday. I didnt expect us to have such a speed even on used tires. Wed saved the new ones for Ben (Trluyer) because we were hoping for the track to dry off some more. Our second place is a superb starting base for the race."
Lucas di Grassi - #3 R18 e-tron quattro Audi, Audi Sport Team Joest (3rd overall): "All in all, it was a good qualifying session, even though there was more potential for our car at the end. I had a best time in the first sector at the end and was also running really well in the middle sector but in the final sector I got stuck in traffic. Having three cars at the front is a very good starting base for Audi but we all know that the race is very long."
Stephane Sarrazin - Toyota Racing #8 TS030 Hybrid (4th overall): "We are fourth on the grid and even after the issue yesterday the car felt really good, so it has been a satisfying day. It was fun to finally have some dry track time at the end and its nice to improve our grid position. But the priority has always been the race and we have a really good race balance. All of us feel comfortable with the car and the set-up we have defined for the race. Its a long race and well give everything we have."
Nicolas Lapierre - Toyota Racing #7 TS030 Hybrid (5th overall): "The car showed more potential than yesterday and I think we have a more competitive package so we are happy with what we achieved. On the #7 we focused on long runs and working for the race, which is more important than qualifying. Anyway fourth and fifth was the best we could achieve. Now we will see where we are with tyre management and fuel consumption. I am quite excited about Saturday and cant wait for the race."
LMP2
Olivier Pla - OAK Racing #24 Morgan-Nissan (1st in LM P2): "The car was really very well balanced and enjoyable to drive. I had a clear run and, as I felt good in the car, I was able to push. On paper, securing pole position for a 24 Hours race isnt all that useful, but its just rewards for the entire team and it confirms that were in contention, as we saw on the Test Day. Of course, the race is a different matter altogether, but we have a car that is capable of doing well."
Roman Rusinov - G-Drive Racing #26 Oreca 03-Nissan (2nd in LM P2): "The time we held was set during the first session last night and, as we were running in race spec today we knew that we could be beaten. A little rain would have been great for us but the weather held out. This is a 24-hour race so pole isnt everything but of course it would have been good to take the point for pole."
Lucas Luhr - Jota Sport #38 Zytek Z11SN-Nissan (3rd in class): "It was difficult for everyone with the changing conditions and red flags, but thats Le Mans. From our point of view we still need to work on the set-up a little bit. Were almost there as its just a case of fine-tuning during Saturdays warm-up and well be in good shape for the race. Its going to be an exciting battle, but also the toughest weve had this year in LMP2. Its the strongest category and Im looking forward to it."
Brendon Hartley - Murphy Prototypes #48 Oreca 03-Nissan (7th in class): "We signed the seventh fastest time with only one real attempt, and I had not driven in the dry before tonightexplains Brendon Hartley, who shares the No. 48 ORECA 03 with Mark Patterson and Karun Chandhok.I think we could have figured in the top three, but everyone must fight against the traffic. We can still improve the balance of the car and we will probably bring a few changes for the race. The team really did a superb job, especially considering we didnt have a lot of time on track. With Mark and Karun, were all in a good rhythm and we can aim for a podium finish."
Bertrand Baguette - OAK Racing #35 Morgan-Nissan (9th in LM P2): "We were consistent and have finished among the leaders. The car is easy on the tyres, which is very good news for the race. Its a shame. I didnt get one clear lap by the end of this hotly disputed qualifying session. We finished ninth in LM P2, which isnt too bad. Were aiming to finish on the podium and wed be more than happy to do even better than that!"
Thomas Holzer - Lotus #32 Lotus T128 (15th in class): "It was great to be back at Le Mans and driving the new Lotus Praga T128 LMP2. We have made another step forward and I am quite happy with the car. I think that we can have a good race and I am very confident. It is going to be a long race and I am looking forward to fighting with our competitors."
Christophe Bouchut - Lotus #31 Lotus T128 (16th in class): "We had good practice sessions and the car has a big potential. It is always a special feeling to race at night and also quite challenging for the driver. At Le Mans, racing at night is simply amazing. I know this circuit quite well and I am very looking forward to the start of my 20th race at Le Mans."
Jacques Nicolet, OAK Racing #45 Morgan-Nissan (17th in LM P2): "Im thrilled with the work we have managed to do in these tough conditions, both at the Test Day and here during free practice and qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. My co-drivers, who are making their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, have developed and progressed without making any mistakes, whereas unfortunately we have seen plenty of incidents and failures around us. So, we start the race in good spirits and just hope that the same will be true of the weather."
LM GTE
Frederic Makowiecki - Aston Martin Racing #99 Vantage V8 (1st in LM GTE Pro): "Its a nice feeling because I waited a long time to work with Aston Martin Racing. For me its a great pleasure to get a good result for the team. Its the first step towards winning the race this weekend."
Allan Simonsen - Aston Martin Racing #95 Vantage V8 (1st in LM GTE Am): "It was tricky at the start with the changing conditions and it was a typical Le Mans last lap dash. To start the 24 Hours of Le Mans on pole is fantastic. Were all looking forward to the race."
Tracy W. Krohn, Krohn Racing Team Owner/Driver, #57 Ferrari F458 LM GTE Am: "The team did a fantastic job on getting the car together. We were very fortunate that everything came together at the very last minute. We were just getting ready to send the car out when we got a red flag in the session. That was unfortunate. Now we just need to wait to get approval from the Stewards to enter the race."
