Piccini on track in Jerez

After a test session in Jarama on March 30 & 31st, the Adrian Campos team wanted young Tuscan driver Giacomo Piccini to participate in a two day test session which ended yesterday.

Piccini had the opportunity to run up some kilometres in the Toyota  Dallara competing in Spanish Formula 3.

Rain and a few technical problems influenced the 2 days and prevented Giacomo from doing his best and from discovering the car’s limits.

“It’s always very positive to have the opportunity to get into a single seater and run on new tracks. However, I’m not very satisfied with  my trip to Jerez.

"The track was completely wet yesterday because it had rained the whole night. We put on the tyres for a wet track and I cautiously familiarized myself with the track. After a few laps, I was able to set the same time as my team-mates.But unfortunately,my Dallara’s clutch  broke later in the morning. For this reason, I wasn’t’ able to test in the afternoon and was only a spectator.

"The rain didn’t help today either. Dunlop hadn’t  brought enough tyres to Jerez with them and so I had to test under the rain with outdated tyres.

"In the afternoon,  the track had finally dried up and I was  able to do  better. In fact at around 14:00, I was the fastest driver on track. After that, I went off track and some pebbles got into the radiator and so I had to make a pit stop to allow the technicians to clean up the car. It was 16:30 when they had finished and had put on new tyres but at that time the red flag stopped the test session.

"For these reasons, I wasn’t able to do as well as I wanted to. It ‘s a pity but  I would like to thank the team for all of its hard work. I hope that I’ll have other opportunities to try this car out under better conditions.”
