TEAM-MATES THOMAS BIAGI AND VITANTONIO LIUZZI WENT ON-TRACK TO PREPARE THEIR CLOSING STINT OF THE SEASON
The SUPERSTARSWORLD is ready to go on-track for its final stint of the season starting next weekend (Sept. 28th and 29th) at Imola as with just four races to go the championship is still wide open. Mercedes, Audi and BMW are looking forward to fight for the crown and the round at the Santerno track will set the tone for what is expected to be a sensational finale next October at Vallelunga.
Last Tuesday both the Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris cars went on-track at Imola with current Championship leader Thomas Biagi (sharing the point in standings with Audi's Gianni Morbidelli) joined by his team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi, who is still a challenger for the International Series while leading the Italian Championship.
“Both drivers turned about 20 laps. - said Mario Ferraris - Our goal was to work on the set-up and on the traction of the cars for the round scheduled for next weekend”.
“I only turned a few laps at Imola because I missed the morning session. - said Biagi - The test held two days ago was useful to shake down the brakes and try a different kind of set-up compared to what we used until now. Imola is one of my favourite circuits, like Mugello, and it's my home circuit. So I'm looking forward to race there!”.
Mercedes is also eager to pick up again the fight with the two fellow German manufacturers and no setbacks will be allowed in the last couple of round. Regarding the Stuttgart camp, Luigi Ferrara is aiming to became the outsider, driving the Coupé version of the C63 AMG for Roma Racing Team. The Italian won his maiden race at Donington Park and is still mathematically in the championship game.
The first veridict will come in just about a week….
