Kumho helps Mattias Adielsson to victory in Swedish Rally Championship

Mattias Adielsson has clinched the R2 class of the hotly-contested Swedish Rally Championship in his Kumho-shod Peugeot 208, with one round of the series still to run.

Mattias and co-driver Christoffer Back were sufficiently far in the lead of the competition at the start of the recent East Sweden event that they only really needed to reach the finish within time to secure their overall place in the championship. However, things are rarely that easy in motorsport and, while following the ideal line on one stage, the pair collided with a large boulder, fracturing a wheel rim. Happily the rest of the car was undamaged and the front-wheel drive Peugeot was back in the rally the following day. The time penalties received proved insufficient to affect their advantage in the series and the delighted duo romped home to a well-deserved place in Swedish rallying history.

Said Kumho’s European Motorsport Manager Steve Thompson: “This is a tremendous result for this young team and for Kumho too. En route to their impressive result in the championship, they made full use of our K33 gravel tyres and both the C03 and TW02 tarmac products – it is hard to see how they could have done much better.”
