Round 5: Silverstone, 22 September
Richard Abra and Mark Poole took a straightforward win in the six-hour Britcar 1000km event at Silverstone aboard their invitation-entry, Barwell-run Aston Martin Vantage.
Early leader Mike Simpson clashed with a back marker in the Team LNT Ginetta G55, then retired with engine problems. The Horsepower Racing Aston Martin of Paul Bailey, Andy Schulz and Tom Ferrier was always in contention and claimed second place, while Bob Berridge in Nigel Mustill’s Riley chased down Manuel Cintrano’s Mosler in the closing minutes.
The Tracktorque Chevron of Field/Hart/Palmer initially led Class 2, but the Porsche 997 of Loggie/Jones /Westwood bagged the class win and consolidated their position in the title race.
