Castle Combe Circuit will be going Mini Mad this Saturday 28th September as it celebrates 21 years of the MiniWorld Action Day.
The event traditionally attracts thousands of Mini owners and would be Mini owners from around the UK and, with 95 Owner's Clubs already booked in and displaying over 1000 Minis, this year looks to be no different.
Marketing and Events Manager, Jo Sparrow, confirmed: "We are absolutely delighted with the numbers booked in for this year's event and it's already looking to be a great day for all things Mini. We have a huge number of classic Minis in attendance and will also be joined by Wellsway in Bath who will be bringing along a display of the new Mini.
"Our friends at Mighty Minis will be bringing along a number of their racing Minis and will be taking to the Circuit throughout the day offering charity rides for local charity, the Emerton Foundation, as well as for their own chosen charity, Kinderklinik in Munich".
"Louise Inch, a regular star to Castle Combe Circuit and BRSCC Mighty Mini Championship Winner in 2010, will be leading out the Ladies Exclusive Mini Session and will be on hand throughout the day for top tips and insights into Mighty Mini racing at Castle Combe Circuit.
"Add in a range of the famous to the bizarre to the unusual as we are joined by the Italian Job Minis, a Monster Mini, Minis with barbeque trailers, stretch Minis and much more and you can just see the eclectic Mini mix that will be joining us on the day" added Jo.
The MiniWorld Action Day is a combination of track action and show action with plenty both on and off the track to keep people entertained. The track opens at 9am and offers great value opportunities to get out on the circuit for the first or even the fiftieth time! There are a number of themed Mini sessions with both the Tax Exempt Mini, the Classic Mini and the Modern Miniall being showcased throughout the day. Add in a Ladies Only Exclusive Session, a Modified Mini Session and Open Mini Sessions and there will be plenty to attract Mini Owners out onto the international race circuit.
Lunchtime also celebrates one of the highlights of the day as the Mini Owner's Club Lunchtime Cruise takes to the Circuit. "We had a record number of Minis on track last year with just under 300 Minis counted on the circuit at the same time" confirmed Jo. "It was a complete spectacle with Union Jacks waving and Minis of all shapes, sizes and colours parading around the Circuit together. The Lunchtime Cruise is open to all Mini Owner's Club members and we have allowed even longer on track this year as we hope to reach 300 or more Minis and beat our record of 2012. It might not be the Guinness Book of Records but it will definitely be a Castle Combe Circuitrecord on how many Minis can get out on the track at the same time!" she added.
Off the track, the event attracts a real show element with a wide range of trade and activities to keep the crowds entertained. MiniWorld, the world's leading Mini magazine will be available for 'meet the team' opportunities whilst over 30 dedicated Mini trade sites are already booked in. The MiniWorld favourites, the Daleks and Star Wars characters, will once againbe taking to the Paddock to entertain and enthral and some Dalek racing is even planned for the circuit in the afternoon!Karting will also be offered on theDriveTech karting track with 10 minute sessions for just £10 for people aged 15 years or over from 12.30pm.
"The joy of this event really is that it's a celebration of all things Mini" confirmed Jo. "And, remember to add that extra bit of spit and polish on the day as we'll have some roving judges who won't just be judging the Car of the Show and the Club Stand of the Show but also a new class for 2013 - 'the Mini that catches the Judges' eyes" - with a painting of the winning car being donated by talented London artist, Jason Christopher of jsmART Designs.
Admission tickets are available on the day at a cost of £15 per adult and £10 per senior (under 17s go free). Track sessions can also be purchased on the day at a rate of £35 per track session. Gates for the event open at 7amwith track sessions commencing at 9am.
