Racin' and Rock 'n' Roll at Lime Rock Park

There's not much better than rock 'n' roll mixed with racin'.

They had both Friday at Lime Rock Park.

A tremendously exciting Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Street Tuner race -- Joel Miller and his Mazda Miata made two brilliant outside passes in Big Bend inside the last 10 laps to win the race -- followed by some brilliant guitar work by blues-rock supremo Davy Knowles at his free concert up in the Midway (thank you PRS Guitars and Grand-Am!).

But the ST championship went to Terry Borcheller and Mike LaMarra in their BMW 128i with a fifth-place finish, taking the title over Kyle Gimple and Ryan Eversley by a scant 9 points. It was great racing and made for a perfect segue into the Knowles concert.

Saturday is it. The final Grand-Am race ever. It's the title-deciding Rolex Sports Car Series race, with the Daytona Prototypes and GT-class cars going at it for nearly three hours.

But even before that, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Grand Sport division -- the big boomer Mustangs, Camaros, Aston Martins, Porsches and Nissans -- have to decide their race winner and season champion.

The Conti Tire GS starts at 9:50 a.m., while the Rolex feature green flags at 1:35 in the afternoon.

Great weather is on tap, so come on out for the finale of all finales, the Grand-Am Championship Weekend presented by BMW.

Oh, and take a look at Friday's action and atmosphere thanks to the talents of shooters Greg Clark and Casey Keil.
