Rossi quickest in MotoGP FP3 but Marquez fastest overall

The Saturday morning session for the MotoGP class at the Gran Premio Iveco de Aragón saw restricted action on a damp track after overnight rain, with Valentino Rossi taking P1 with a late best time. However, championship leader Marc Marquez’s Friday afternoon lap time remains quickest of the weekend so far.Rossi’s best time of 1’50.464 came at the end of the run as the track dried, with Alvaro Bautista, Nicky Hayden, Aleix Espargaro and Bradley Smith also in the FP3 top five.

However, the FP2 times from Friday afternoon still dictate the top 10 automatic Q2 participants so the likes of Marc Marquez, Stefan Bradl, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Bautista remain in the combined top five. Indeed Marquez, Bradl, Pedrosa and Lorenzo stayed in their boxes throughout FP3.

Cal Crutchlow did the same, knowing that he was already through to Q2, where he is joined automatically by Rossi, Dovizioso, Espargaro and Hayden.

Luca Scassa, Cardion AB Motoracing’s substitute, gathered further experience in FP3 topping the timesheet at one stage as he put in 13 laps, eventually finishing tenth.
