Round 8: Bushwhacker Rally, 28 September

Derek McGarrity and co-driver James McKee won Omagh Motor Club’s Bushwhacker Rally by less than 10 seconds from Martin Cairns and Kevin Flanagan.

Pat O’Connell led by a mere second after the first loop of stages, but by the end of the second loop McGarrity had moved ahead with a five-second advantage over Liam Regan.

McGarrity extended his lead slightly, eventually beating Cairns by eight seconds. Meanwhile Pat O’Connell won Group N in fourth overall, 24 seconds behind.
