Donington front row start and GT Cup podium for Chevron

Jordan Witt finishes the GT Cup season on a highFollowing a busy year for Chevron Cars Limited, the team finished the 2013 GT Cup Championship on a high with Jordan Witt, in the Chevron GT3, clinching a front row start and well-earned podium finish.Donington was the venue for the GT Cup finale, on Saturday (28 September), with Witt qualifying second on the grid for the first of two 25-minute sprint races to round-off the season.Despite leading from the first corner, race one resulted in a late retirement for the factory-run Chevron. However, 22-year-old Jordan Witt had set the second quickest lap time to secure the same starting position (on the front row) for race two.In the final race of the GT Cup season, on the first corner of the opening lap, the Chevron was pushed into the gravel and lost 16 places dropping down to 18th position, but with some impressive overtaking Witt quickly climbed back up through the field to finish third. David Witt, owner of Chevron Cars Limited, said: “Overall it’s been a good weekend for us, and we are delighted with the performance of the Chevron V8 engine. In the first race a gearbox air compressor problem hindered us, but our result in race two made up for it. We look forward to our next race, planned to be an endurance event at the end of October back here at Donington.” Jordan Witt commented: “With a full grid this weekend, the racing has been competitive and it’s given us a good opportunity to push the GT3, as we test a new set-up with the new Chevron V8 engine. And on top of that, we’ve got lots planned for the coming months.”
