Audi vs Mercedes, Vallelunga to host Superstars Showdown

GIANNI MORBIDELLI, THOMAS BIAGI, VITANTONIO LIUZZI SET TO FIGHT FOR THE ITALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL TITLES

The SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES is ready for its final 2013 showdown, an exciting finale for a so far spectacular championship. The final round of the season will be held on October 12th and 13th at Vallelunga, with the Italian track set for an Audi vs. Mercedes battle.

Two historical brands and three drivers will challenge for the two titles available. The fight for the International Series will be in the hands of Gianni Morbidelli, driving for Audi Sport Italia, and Thomas Biagi, lined-up by Romeo Ferraris Mercedes-AMG. The first is sitting at the top of the standings with 212 points and 6 wins to his name, while the latter has 179 points to his toll, and scored two wins so far. On the other hand, former F1 star Vitantonio Liuzzi is leading the Italian Championship with Morbidelli trailing him by 4 points and Biagi 42 lengths back. The three SUPERSTARS racers stopped by to share their thoughts ahead of Vallelunga.

Gianni Morbidelli: “As sports tell us, you can never leave your guard down. I scored some very valuable points that handed me a comfortable lead for Vallelunga. During the middle stint of the season I took a lot of risks to catch up with Thomas. This time I will have to administrate my advantage and that will require a different strategy. I will try as hard as I can to stay at the front. The team did an excellent job and provided me with a perfect car. Now I can't make mistakes”.

Thomas Biagi: “It's been a very good season. Despite the fact that I changed cars, I'm fighting for the title until the latest stages. I don't feel any pressure for Vallelunga. I'll only think for myself and focus on doing my best. I want to invite the fans to join us on-track on the 13th of October. I owe them for the support they gave me. I'm sure that we'll break last year's attendance record”.

Vitantonio Liuzzi: “I'll line-up at Vallelunga with the goal of doing my best, and if I'll end up with the title, the better will be. My goal is to win again, independently from how the championship will end up. I can't aim for the International Series anymore, but racing in front of the Superstars fans will be as exciting as ever”.

After the successful 2012 SUPERSTARS outing, with 33.000 fans cheering on the circuit's grandstands in 2012, the Free Ticket campaign has been renewed for this season. Fans will be able to download a free voucher at www.superstarsworld.com and freely access to the main grandstand, becoming part of a true classic in motorsports.
