Brands Hatch decider for Jordan in BTCC title contest

The deciding weekend in the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship will be the most important weekend of Andrew Jordan’s racing career at Brands Hatch (12/13 October) as Andrew and Pirtek Racing take a 34-point overall lead into the final three rounds of the 30-race season. It will be a weekend of drama and pressure, but Andrew has consistently shown superb pace during a stellar season in the Pirtek Racing Honda Civic. He has one hand on the title, but knows that everything can change very quickly in the all-action BTCC. Whatever happens, it is going to be a weekend of high emotions. After a fabulous 2013 season for Pirtek Racing, Andrew extended his overall championship lead with a remarkable performance in the most recent race weekend at Silverstone. Despite struggling for straight-line speed, he raced hard to take three top six finishes and, against expectations, added four points to his title lead to leave Silverstone with a 34-point margin over title rivals Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington and Jason Plato. All four of his rivals are former BTCC champions.“It’s brilliant to have extended the championship lead to 34 points after Silverstone,” said Andrew. “The car will be quick at Brands and I’ll be quick there. But we need to be sensible, especially in the first race. We need to finish the first race and then try and wrap up the title as soon as possible. It will be a strong circuit for us, but anything can happen. Up to this point we’ve done everything we can and hopefully that will continue at Brands.”Andrew also leads the Independent Drivers’ title race by 57 points; Pirtek Racing is currently joint third in HiQ Teams’ Championship and is leading the Independent Teams’ Trophy by 34 points. To date, Andrew has taken race wins at Donington Park, Oulton Park Snetterton and Knockhill and twice at Rockingham. After qualifying on Saturday 12 October at 15.45, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.30 on Sunday, with race two at 14.20 and race three at 17.00. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
