Drivex and Richard Gonda move closer to F3 Open title

Richard Gonda and the Drivex team completed another excellent weekend at Monza in the penultimate round of the 2013 European F3 Open.

Gonda was quickest in free practice, however Saturday´s qualifying wasn't that positive for the team, as Gonda qualified 7th after coping with mixed weather conditions. When qualifying was coming to an end after a rainy start, the team decided to put slick tires, but the move didn't pay off because of humidity on track.

During the race team and driver showed their pace once again and after a tightly-fought race Gonda finished 3rd. He increased his gap with Cameron Twynham in the overall standings. On Sunday in dry qualifying his lap was faster than anyone else and in the race, after two laps behind the safety car, he pulled away from the Copa field and 17 laps later he was crowned as a race winner, scoring other ten additional points.

Season finale is taking place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, on 9-10 November, and Drivex and his driver, Gonda, will defend their gap of 13 points with Twynham.

Richard Gonda: “With this weekend at Monza, I´m extremely satisfied. Everything has evolved positively. Saturday, although we didn´t have chosen the right tire management, so the race was difficult for me, but finally I finished third in the race and I enjoyed it. Sunday was almost ideal for me. We posted pole position in qualifying, we won the race and we increased our lead in the championship to 13 points, what puts us in an excellent situation. I could not even ask for more, I´m very happy for a huge support from many of my fans from Slovakia, who came to Monza and brought an unique atmosphere and I thank them. Thanks goes to everybody from the Drivex team, who once again showed their professionalism.”

Miguel Ángel de Castro: “It was an excellent weekend for us, because we took our 6th win this season and with just one meeting ahead, our lead is quite solid. Now we´ll prepare Barcelona, another home round for us and where we want to secure this European championship. It would be a worthy prize for the whole team after an almost perfect season.”
