GTSPRINT set for final 2013 showdown at Vallelunga

MORIBIDELLI (AUDI) AND BIAGI (MERCEDES) SET TO FIGHT FOR SUPERSTARS HONOURS. AUDI'S SCHOEFFLER AND PORSCHE'S SOLIERI TO CONTEND FOR GTSPRINT TITLE

The SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES and GTSPRINT are ready for their 2013 Grand Finale at Vallelunga with both series still waiting for their champions to be crowned.

In SUPERSTARS, Audi's Gianni Morbidelli pulled away at the top of the International standings after Imola and will rely on a 33-point advantage. Trailing him in standings is Thomas Biagi, driving a C63 AMG racecar for the Mercedes AMG-Romeo Ferraris team. Former F.1 star and fellow works Mercedes driver Vitantonio Liuzzi is sitting behind them in the International chart while he's still fending off Biagi and Morbidelli at the top of the Italian Championship's standings. Solaris Motorsport also expects to be fighting for wins after Francesco Sini, on the Solaris Motorsport Chevy Camaro, tamed a rainy Imola to take his first podium of 2013.

Team BMW Dinamic will line-up fully-staffed. Alongside Giovanni Berton, the breakthrough name of the 2013 SUPERSTARS season with two wins on his toll, two more BMW M3 racecars will be campaigned by team's regulars Max Mugelli and Mauro Trentin.

More Mercedes power will be stored under the hood of the Caal Racing and R.R.T. cars. Corrado Canneori and his team will field two C63 racers for Andrea Bacci and Leonardo Baccarelli, while Giuseppe Cipriani will drive for the Roman-based operation. The American Chrysler muscle is set to return with the Batt Promotion 300C SRT8 driven by Alessandro Battaglin, back after a positive showing in Imola.

The GTSPRINT challenge will be mostly made-in-Germany with the Thomas Schoeffler lining-up in the overal lead with the MTM-prepared Audi R8 LMS. Once again, he will be partnered by Swede Johan Kristoffersson with whom he swept the Imola weekend. Hoping to catch him and cruise to title will be Autorlando Sport's Glauco Solieri, driving a Porsche 997, and Ukrainian Andrii Kruglyk, returning on a Ferrari 458 Italia prepared by Team Ukraine alongside Raffaele Giammaria. They are also set to field a second Ferrari for Ruslan Tsyplakov. The same car will also be fielded - in two units - by Ombra Racing team for the duos of Cordoni-Mantovani and Croce-Beretta, while MP1 corse will return with Garelli-Cerati.

Scuderia Baldini 27 Network will be returning to GTSPRINT in-style at their home racetrack with Lorenzo Casè and Paolo Ruberti, and they will also field a 430 model in the GTS Cup Trophy for Cesare Balistreri and Lorenzo Spagnoli. Two Porsche 997 racers are also joining the field. Antonelli Motorsport is fielding Cristian Passuti and Angelo Proietti, while Emanuele Romani will rejoin M Racing.

In addition to SUPERSTARS and GTSPRINT, the crowd will enjoy the penultimate round of the Formula 3 European Championship. Italian Raffaele Marciello, supported by the Ferrari Driver Academy, and Felix Rosenqvist are set for a masterclass showdown in Italy.

"In terms of TV coverage and attendance it is quite an advantage to present our race together with the final of the SUPERSTARSWORLD which is a big event in Italy.

"For the vast majority of our drivers it will be their first time on this circuit, they will have the opportunity to profit from experiencing a new track. We are looking forward to three interesting and even more exciting, while reaching the end of the season, races. Everybody will be thrilled at that time which driver will be close to win the European Championship title and being rewarded with a Scuderia Ferrari F1 test!"

As usual, SUPERSTARS and GTSPRINT will benefit from widespread live TV coverage in Europe and beyond including RAI Sport 2 TV in Italy and MotorsTV in the Pan-European area. Race 1 for GTSPRINT will take-off at 9:15 followed by SUPERSTARS Race 1 at noon. SUPERSTARS will be back at 16:10 for Race 2, with GTSPRINT rounding out the day at 17:30.
