MSA British Rally Championship

Round 6: Rallye Sunseeker, 18/19 October 2013Osian Pryce took the victory, but it was Finland’s Jukka Korhonen who was crowned 2013 British Rally Champion after finishing third at the weekend’s season-closing Rallye Sunseeker International.Having never been off the podium all season, Korhonen – who was driving a Citroen DS3 R3T – only needed to finish third at the Poole-based event to secure championship honours. Series rival Pryce put in another stellar effort and led the 10-stage rally from start to finish. Pryce’s triumph marked the Welshman’s third consecutive BRC victory, with his late season supremacy meaning that he finishes the year just eight points behind Korhonen."I really don't know what to say but to win the championship is the most amazing feeling," said Korhonen who has become the first Finn to win the coveted British title since Marko Ipatti back in 2000. "I am so proud to add my name to the trophy that has the likes of Hannu Mikkola and Ari Vatanen on it. The competition has been so close throughout the season but it has been a perfect year for us.”Finishing 14.4s behind rally winner Pryce was Welshman Tom Cave in another Citroen DS3 R3T. The second place finish boosted him to joint second with Pryce on 92 points but based on Pryce’s higher number of maximum scores this season, it was Cave who was forced to settle for third in the final drivers’ standings.Results1 Osian PRYCE/Dale FURNISS Citroen DS3 R3T2 Tom CAVE/Ieuan THOMAS Citroen DS3 R3T3 Jukka KORHONEN/Marko SALMINEN Citroen DS3 R3T4 Alastair FISHER/Gordon NOBLE Citroen DS3 R3T5 Mark DONNELLY/Dai ROBERTS Citroen DS3 R3T6 Jonny GREER/Kirsty RIDDICK Citroen DS3 R3T
