New Autumn Cup heads to Rockingham

SINGLE-SEATERS SWITCH SEASONS FOR NEW AUTUMN CUP

SOME of the world’s most promising young racing drivers will be in action at Rockingham next month (November), when the Northamptonshire circuit hosts its final race meeting of the season.

Spectators will be able to pick out the stars of the future when the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) brings the first 2013 Protyre Formula Renault Autumn Cup, formerly the Winter Series, to the circuit over the weekend of November 16/17.

With our season-long “ticket for a tenner” promotion extended for the Autumn Cup, this is the perfect opportunity to grab your final fix of British Club Racing at a great price. Advance adult tickets cost just £10 per day, while children aged 16 and under get in FREE!

After another outstanding year for the one-make single-seater series, which crowned its main season champion – Chris Middlehurst – during the penultimate race meeting last month at Rockingham, organisers are confident of a well-supported Autumn Cup.

Each day will start with a qualifying session before the heat is turned up as the teams and their drivers battle it out to see who will be crowned champion over four exciting races – two on both days - on Rockingham’s 1.94 mile International Super Sportscar Circuit.

In addition to the single seater series, there will be some great saloon car racing. Fresh from supporting this season’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, cars from the Renault UK Clio Cup will move into the new Michelin Clio Cup for the season finale at Rockingham.

The Michelin Clio Cup features both purpose-built race cars and machines converted from road-going Clio Renaultsport 197 or 200s. Among the Road Series entry will be a prize winner from the Henry Surtees Foundation, who will be making their car racing debut.

The Clio Cup competitors will tackle their usual 20-minute sprint race on the Saturday, before taking part in the first endurance-style Clio Cup race to be held in the UK with a 45-minute encounter on the Sunday.

Spectators will be able to catch all the action in the warmth of the Skyline Suite, which offers a panoramic view of the entire circuit or from the top of the pit garage roof. There is also free access to the race paddock, allowing an exclusive insight into the hard work which goes on behind the scenes to keep the drivers and cars on track.

Advance tickets can be booked online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the hotline on 01536 500500, option1, until midday on Friday, November 15. Adult tickets will also be available on the day priced at £15 on both days, while children aged 16 and under get in free. Gates open at 08:00 both days.
