THE Isle of Wight pulled off a sensational 46-44 win at Mildenhall in their KO Cup semi-final replay to set up a Final clash with Dudley. As in the first attempt to resolve the tie, the two sides proved evenly-matched and the aggregate scores were level with one heat to go – where Islanders skipper Ben Hopwood and guest Joe Jacobs collected a 5-1 over home duo Stefan Nielsen and Dan Halsey to secure their progression by a four-point margin.Isle of Wight co-boss Chris Hunt said: “That was simply stunning, and credit to not only the riders in our colours but Mildenhall’s as well for producing four memorable matches over a total of 60 heats, and just a mere four points separating the two sides at the end of those. We’re thrilled to have reached the Final, I can’t praise our team enough.”Mildenhall Chairman Kevin Jolly said: “Of course I am disappointed to lose out in what has been an incredible cup tie but full credit to the Isle of Wight and we wish them well in the Final.”
