Javier Ibran completes his best Maserati Trofeo weekend in Shanghai

Despite the fact he had never raced at this track, a major handicap, Javier Ibran achieved best results ever in the Maserati Trofeo World Series. Now he is going for the big victory in Abu Dhabi next month.

Ibran continues proving his adjustment to the demanding Maserati GranTurismo MC, as the only Spaniard in the championshipfought for top places in Shanghai.During qualifying sessions, Ibran was 19th fastest on the grid for race one, with almost thirty cars on track, and then for races two and third he improved with 18th and 17th places respectively.

“It took me time to get used to the track, and I needed several laps to feel me comfortable, but finally I had the greatest satisfaction”, Ibráa explained afterwards, pointing out that “in race one the start procedure was aborted and race was initiated behind the safety car. I think it was a problem because we could have overtaken more cars then but anyway our 12th was good. It was a good first outing in Shanghai”. Then, in race two, the Spanish driver improved even more to take 8th place and in race three, in endurance format, came 12th once again.

“I´m delighted with this result, I thought it would be a negative track for us but finally, it turned into an excellent weekend for us, and I have taken tender memories from here. Now I feel confident with the car and I´m able to focus on the new circuit and not on the vehicle. On this basis, I hope to keep improving in Abu Dhabi, our last commitment in December”, Ibran reported.
