After being away for two years, Philippe SINAULT’s team, with its record of 16 titles and 472 podiums, is returning to single-seaters, to take part in the extremely competitive FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP.
For their return, SIGNATURE will be associated with RENAULT, ten years after the manufacturer’s last victory in the 2003 Macau GP – with SIGNATURE (a one-two for Nicolas Lapierre and Fabio Carbone). European Champion in the 2010 F3 EUROSERIES, triple winner of the Macau Grand Prix, SIGNATURE is returning to the international single-seater scene.
After 21 years of competition at the highest level in Formula 3, SIGNATURE, which had suspended its single-seater competition to devote itself to its programme in the World Endurance Championship and to develop the SIGNATECH-ALPINE project, will be back in 2014, more motivated than ever, back in partnership with RENAULT and ORECA. Recently crowned the European Endurance Champion, SIGNATURE was very keen to return to single-seater competition, and will enter two Dallara RENAULT cars in the 2014 FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP.
Arnaud BOULANGER, RENAULT SPORT TECHNOLOGIES Competition Manager : "Our involvement in Formula 3 allows us to add another step to the pathway to Formula One which was set up by RENAULT SPORT. The new FIA F3 European Championship convinced us to return, and we are very happy to be able to join up with Signature, one of the leading players in this formula.”
Philippe SINAULT, CEO SIGNATURE GROUP : "Signature and F3 is a real love story. It is a big part of our history, and we have lived through some amazing adventures, both on the sporting front and through the people we have met, with drivers such as Treluyer, Monteiro, Lapierre, Duval, Van Der Garde, Grosjean, Mortara, WIttmann ... During the two years we were away, it felt as if something was missing. We are very happy to be back. The FIA has done a great job over the last year, giving the series its pedigree and making it an unmissable stepping stone for the champions of the future. Today, with the new engine regulations, the biggest manufacturers are involved in the series. The project is particularly stimulating as it is a real show of confidence to have RENAULT by our side, and as everyone knows, they are all about performance. We will put together a team that can win, and what a delight it will be to go back to Pau and Macau !”
