Skip Barber Winter Race Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge Open at Road Atlanta

The 2013 Skip Barber Winter Race Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge kicks off this weekend at the iconic Road Atlanta race track in Braselton. The first weekend of the series will be full of exciting races to start Saturday morning with live timing available at skipbarber.com. A talented field of racers--the future of USF2000, Pro Mazda, Continental Tire, TUDOR USCC, INDY Lites and the IZOD Indycar Series--will perfect their skills under the guidance of the renowned Skip Barber Racing School instructors.

With more than 25 competitors participating in Skip Barber Winter Race Series season opener, the season will definitely kick-off with bang.

The field is split between the 2013 MAZDASPEED Challenge field, which races Skip Barber race-prepped Mazda MX-5 Cup cars, the 2013 Skip Barber Winter Race Series, which races in the classic Skip Barber Formula 2000 car. It includes 2012-13 Winter MAZDASPEED Challenge Champion Bryan Hixon and 2013 Summer MX-5 Master’s Champion Felix Borodaty. On the Skip Barber Formula side, 6 of the top 17 in overall points return to the Skip Barber Race Series looking to make their way into the 2014 Race Series Championship Shootout starting their journey on the Mazda Road to Indy.

Racing a premier race track across the country, the 2013-14 Skip Barber Winter Race Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge awards $300,000 in career advancement scholarships.
