Skeleton Gold medallist, Amy Williams MBE, and Sky Sports News’ F1 analyst Tony Jardine enjoy third day of their World Rally Championship challengeWhile yesterday was all about the jumps at Sweet Lamb, today’s stages featured roads with sheer drops where mistakes could be very costly, as several teams discovered. Tony and Amy however, excelled in the classic stages of Gartheiniog, Dyfi and Dyfnant, with an end of day trip to the RallyFest stage of Chirk Castle.The duo had a very successful third day in the World Championship event. Progressing well and climbing the leader board, they eventually returned to the Service Park at Deeside an impressive 24th overall and first in class.Amy Williams beamed: “Today was awesome! It felt so good. I really enjoyed the first two stages, we were really flowing and it was great that we got to go through twice. We had a delay at Chirk Castle which meant we only got to go through once which was a shame although it meant we could chat to people and take photos so that was good and there was loads of support. Overall we’ve had a really good day. I felt like we were truly in the swing of it. Tomorrow I just want to stay consistent, I’ve got my game head on and it’s not over until we go over that finish ramp.“I also just want to say thank you to the marshals. They’ve done a great job and been brilliant throughout the whole rally.”Tony Jardine said: “The stages were rammed, people everywhere with flags. It was superb, Wales Rally GB as it used to be. The fans were out there, loving the rally. The stages were fantastic, we’re on true classic forest stages, this really is the Rally of Legends. I’ve got to compliment Amy; from the get-go this morning we really gelled and were taking time out of our closest competitor in the stage. We were particularly on it in the last big forest stage of the day, we were sliding and throwing it around. It flowed, Amy flowed, her timing was perfect, she did a fantastic job today. It wasn’t like she was on her fifth rally, it was like it was her 50th rally!“The car has been excellent, ProSpeed has done a great job. Once again thanks to Kumho, lots of people had punctures but we’ve had no issues with the tyres, fingers crossed for tomorrow but we are really happy so far. We started to push this afternoon and we won’t be hanging back tomorrow! We’ll be giving it our best.”Tony and Amy commence their final day of Wales Rally GB tomorrow morning from the Deeside Service Park.
