Gran Turismo6 to be unveiled at Ronda and Ascari in Spain

Kazunori Yamauchi to reveal full GT6 features at media eventGran Turismo6 for PlayStation3 will be revealed to the world on Monday, 2 December at a special media event. Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc and creator of the Gran Turismo series, will reveal full details of the game at the two-day event to be held in the city of Ronda in southern Spain and at the nearby Ascari Race Resort, a track that will feature in the new game due for release on 6 December. The stunning and ancient city of Ronda was chosen for the event as it has been captured in intricate detail by the Polyphony team and will be available in GT6 in Photo Mode, with the surrounding countryside featuring in the Course Maker function. The ultra-modern, private Ascari Race Resort, home to the longest race track in Spain, will provide a contrast to the peaceful charm of Ronda as media guests and VIPs are treated to real and virtual laps of the circuit in some of the stunning 1200 cars that feature in the latest iteration of ‘the real driving simulator’.“Launching Gran Turismo 6 in Ronda will be a real honour for me,” explained Yamauchi-san. “It is a very special place and my team and I enjoyed our stay enormously when we came to capture the sights and essence of the city. My love of race tracks is clearly no secret, so to be able to utilise the Ascari Race Resort for some real driving experiences provided by a number of our automotive partners is also a thrill. We have worked very hard to create another step forward for Gran Turismo, and I am excited to be able to demonstrate our work just prior to the release of the game.”Ronda’s mayor, Maria de la Paz Fernandez Lobato, is looking forward to the prestigious event: “We are very excited to welcome the gaming world to the city of Ronda for the launch of Grand Turismo 6. While Ronda is an ancient city with great tradition, it is also a vibrant, modern community and our association with the game is very fitting. Throughout the years, artists and writers have been captivated by Ronda, and I believe that Yamauchi-san is no different!”Owner of the Ascari Race Resort, Klaas Zwart, added: “Seeing the Ascari circuit in Gran Turismo 6 is fantastic. I know this circuit so well that it is a shock to see how accurately the Polyphony team have recreated it. Being chosen as the venue to launch such an important game is an honour for us and we can guarantee that the guests will enjoy it in real life and that Gran Turismo fans will enjoy driving a special circuit that very few people ever have the chance to. I think all of our team at Ascari will be first in the queue to buy Gran Turismo 6.”
