Debut UK Podiums for Knight and Bristow with Sherco at Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro

It was a packed weekend for the Sherco team at the opening round of the Maxxis World SuperEnduro this weekend at the Liverpool Echo Arena. David Knight was making his first official UK debut riding for the Sherco factory team and he had a stunning start to his season by finishing in second overall behind current World Indoor Champion Taddy Blazusiak.David rode hard all day and in each session you could see him gaining in strength and understanding of the Sherco four stroke Enduro bike. His third and final race of the day was one of his strongest and he was keeping with Taddy throughout the race. The multi World and British Champion fought hard and ended the day with a stunning second place overall.David Knight - "That was certainly a tough day, the track was very tough and extremely demanding so it pushed us all to our limits. I knew coming into this weekend that my main opposition would be Taddy and I know I need more time out on the bike to get race fit again. I built a track back at home on the Isle of Man but ever since I finished it, it's not stopped raining so getting out and doing what I needed to do nearly became impossible. I love riding the Sherco and haven't had any problems since I've had it, I'm working closely with the factory and we hope to keep moving forward all the time. It was great to be back up on the podium and that was certainly a testing event today so I know now where I need to be. I would like to thank all the people that came over from the Isle of Man to Liverpool to support me, seeing all the Manx flags and hearing the crowd behind me really spurred me on. I've the fire in my belly again now and want to win."In the first ladies race of the season, the shock came from team MRS Sherco rider Emma Bristow. Emma became British and European Ladies Trials Champion this year and runner-up in the World Championship this season and only 10 days ago she asked UK Sherco Importers Malcolm Rathmell Sport if she could have a go on their Sherco Enduro bike. Emma was out practising every day until Liverpool, this paid off for the youngster and she rode her first ever Enduro event, finishing in a fantastic second place overall behind current World Indoor and Outdoor Ladies Enduro Champion Laia Sainz. This was an incredible achievement having never ridden any form of Enduro race, with most of the riders commenting this was once of the hardest Indoor courses they have seen Emma was the star of the night providing probably one of the best races of the day fighting at one point with Laia and then with fellow Brit Jane Daniels taking a stunning second place.Emma Bristow - "I'm actually over the moon with the way things have gone for me today at Liverpool. I asked Malcolm and Rhoda at MRS if it was something I could do and without hesitation they lent me their demo bike. I was out practising as much as I could and my boyfriend James and I managed to build a small track in a short time and I just really enjoyed myself out on the bike. It was a little daunting seeing the track on Saturday and I wasn't sure what to expect on the Sunday. I went really well in qualifying and was quickest so I got to choose which gate to go from, another new experience for me. I was looking forward to the race but nervous, I got a pretty good start and it was certainly hard work. I came so close to Laia a couple of times but it just wasn't possible today, I was certainly tired on the last lap and was pretty pleased when the chequered flag was shown. I have to say I was so impressed with the Sherco Enduro bike it certainly made my job much easier, I had no problems with it all day and it was the perfect bike for me to be riding at such a tough and extreme race. To get second in my first Enduro event though is great, I must say a huge thank you to Rhoda, Malcolm and Martin at MRS for the loan of the bike, Wayne Braybrook at RideOffRoad for setting up my bike, Mum, Dad and James for supporting me as always. Clice for the new clothing sent from Spain, plus Gaerne (boots), Airoh (helmets), Galfer (brakes) Madform (recovery/performance creams) and Forcefield (body armour). The fans were also amazing, it was impossible not to hear them and they really did give me a huge boost. Thanks all it was brilliant."In the Junior World Championship event two of MRS Sherco riders Gethin and Owain Humphreys made their first attempt at a World Championship Extreme Enduro event, having ridden all year in the British Enduro Championship. The Welsh pairing who have gained some very good results in the outdoor series this year struggled with the very technical Liverpool SuperEnduro circuit but both did the MRS Sherco team proud with Gethin finishing in a very creditable top five position in both races. Owain was running on par with his brother during the qualifying sessions, but unfortunately during the races he had a few incidents which ended him finishing further down the order than he had planned. The pairing will be appearing at the final British Enduro Championship round this forthcoming weekend in Norfolk.MRS now have full stocks of the Sherco four and two stroke models and they are currently looking for new Enduro dealers around the UK - please contact info@mrsltd.co.uk for further details or call 01423 772885.
