Gearlink Kawasaki are excited to announce their plans for the 2014 season, which involves the team moving up to the elite MCE British Superbike class with their rider Ben Wilson. Ben who has remained a loyal member of the Gearlink Kawasaki squad will now step up to the challenge as he moves into the MCE Insurance British Superbike series. The Gearlink Kawasaki team had a fantastic season this year taking runner-up spot with Alastair Seeley and with Ben finishing the Championship in fourth place overall having missed the final two races due to injury. The team will now be working hard over the winter to build the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R for Ben and they are extremely looking forward to this new project and focus.Ben Wilson - "I'm so excited about moving up into the MCE BSB class for the 2014 season and I would like to thank Michael and Norma from Gearlink and Ross Burridge, Race co-ordinator, KMUK for this opportunity. My leg is fully healed now and I'm already out and back training, it's a new challenge and goal for me and something I am really looking forward to. I have been in the Supersport class for five years now and it's time for me to move up and have a really good go at it. I will be 100% focussed on the job in hand and I hope between us we are more than capable of being competitive and getting some good results."The Gearlink Kawasaki team will also field two riders in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship next year. Luke Hedger who took a stunning Championship win for the Gearlink team this season in the National Superstock 600 Class will move up into the ultra-competitive Supersport series. He will be joined by Irish youngster Glenn Irwin who finished in ninth in the overall Supersport Championship standings in 2013.Luke Hedger - "I can't wait to step up into the Supersport class next season especially with the Gearlink Kawasaki team who have been so good to me this year. I know it's a very tough class and I am hoping to get some strong results, starting the season slowly whilst I adjust and adapt to the Championship and building up as the season progresses like I did this season in the Superstock 600 class. It will be a big challenge especially if the results from this season are anything to go by but it is a challenge I am ready for and prepared to put the work in to get the results. I would like to say a huge thank you to 1st Choice Flooring for making this possible and also Gearlink for this possibility next season."Glenn Irwin - "I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity by Michael and Norma to run in the Gearlink Kawasaki team for the 2014 season. It's been a difficult year for me this year but I am more than eager to get back to it and try and get some good results for Gearlink who have proved all this season how competitive they are and what a good, strong team they have. I can't wait to work in the Gearlink way, and I know the experience I can gain from both Michael and Ben will be great, they both have long and established knowledge of the Supersport class and the Kawasaki and I am willing to absorb as much information as I possibly can to help me get good results. I am looking forward to being back on a Kawasaki and I know they are a good bike and have proved this year they can win races and I hope I will get that chance to prove what I can do. I would like to thank the following people for helping me make this possible, MET Healthcare, CN Trading, Megastore247, Mark Talbot, Mark from MBC Contracts and James Jamieson Construction, also everyone who has stood by me and supported me during my racing career so far."Team Manager Michael de Bidaph - "I am very excited about moving up to Superbikes next year especially having Ben on board the bike. I feel the time is right for both the team and Ben to move up to the Superbike Championship, but also realise it is a big step and it will be a tough job!The signing of Luke and Glenn, to compete in the British Supersport Championship for next season, is also an exciting prospect. I feel that whilst British Supersport has proven to be a highly competitive series over the past few years I also feel that, with these two young riders, we can be competing up there with the best!"2013 GEARLINK TEAM SPONSORSAKRAPOVIC - B & C EXPRESS - DAYTONA (BEN) - DAMEN LEATHERS - DBR - GALFER - GB RACING - GEARLINK LTD - GOODRIDGE - K-TECH - MWR AIR FILTERS - NGK SPARK PLUGS - OCTANORM - PERFORMANCE PARTS - PERFORMANCE FRICTION BRAKES - PRO CLEAN - PRO-BOLT - R & G RACING - RENTHAL - ROCK OIL - SAMCO SPORT - SHARK HELMETS - SHOEI HELMETS (LUKE) - SIDI (LUKE) - SIGMA PERFORMANCE - SINNIS - SKIDMARX - SOLO SIGNS - TIM TODD SURFACING - TSUBAKI - VALE LIVESTOCK - WHITELINEIMAGES - 1STCHOICE-FLOORING.CO.UK (LUKE)
