Auto GP completed a 2-day test this week at the Roman racetrack of Vallelunga, where some of the 2014 Teams and Drivers started some early preparations for the new season. As previously announced by the series’ promoter, two new teams, Puma 3 Motorsport and Team Spirit, were on-track for the first time although they were able to rely on the experienced professionals that joined their staff so far. A lot of experience also came from the drivers’ compartment, with Auto GP regulars Kevin Giovesi driving for the Spanish squad and Sergio Campana joining the Swiss operation. Super Nova International also enjoyed two exciting days with Michela Cerruti. The female racer continued in her exceedingly positive approach after the good results achieved at Jerez.Michela is working hard to define the last details for her 2014 season assault. This time she compared some of the solutions seen at Jerez with others designed for her home circuit. In addition to her, Artem Markelov joined Zele Racing. The Russian proved quick and consistent despite his reduced open-wheel experience in Formula 3 and mastered well the 550 horsepower of his Auto GP car. Alongside the regular cars, Enzo Coloni brought on-track a developmental Auto GP racer fitted with aero upgrades for next season and updated tires provided by Kumho Motorsport. The initial feedback lived up to the expectations as the car lapped 1.8 seconds quicker than the 2013 model. In Day 2 a famous face also joined the pack: Jimmy Ghione, a reporter for the popular satirical news program Striscia La Notizia and an amateur tin-top driver. “It’s been fantastic - he said - driving this car has been a sensational experience and I want to thank Enzo Coloni for giving me this opportunity. Once I started, it was really difficult to stop!”.
