Isaac Tutumlu forced to withdraw from Gulf 12 hrs

Engine problems in the rhino´s Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 prevented Isaac Tutumlu participating in the Gulf 12 hours.

Isaac Tutumlu, Barzani Racing Team, terminated his participation in the Gulf 12 hours even before starting as his car suffered severe engine problems and he was not able to compete in Abu Dhabi.

Tutumlu was sharing a rhino´s Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 with Fabian Hamprecht and Patrick Kaiser. “In the first free test session I was improving my adaptation but we managed to make some useful changes to the settings, so we improved more than a second next day. It is important to note my fastest lap, among top five drivers, was set overtaking other cars and on used tires. In fact Fabian, who has competed the entire season with this car, could not improve my lap on new tires”, Tutumlu explained.

But, just before the final practice session, the Kurdish driver explained “our team noticed a severe engine problem. It was not broken by then, but it would break later. So Leipert contacted with Lamborghini in Italy to bring a new engine on time for the race from Italy. But it was impossible owing to logistical constraints, so retiring from the race was our only option. As if it was not enough, our team manager had serious health problems and I would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

2At a personal level I am completely focused on the 24 hours of Daytona, such a great event. I am looking forward to debuting at the wheel of the Starworks Motorsport Prototype next month. It is a dream coming true”.
