Andretti Sports Marketing has been appointed as the local promoter of the Formula E race in Miami, scheduled for March 2015.

The US city will host one of ten events in the inaugural season of the electric motorsport championship.

Andretti Sports Marketing is headed by Michael Andretti whose motorsport team, Andretti Autosport, has taken one of the entry slots for the series and will field two cars when the championship launches in September.

"I'm excited that we are serving as the event organiser for the 2015 Miami Formula E race,” said Andretti.

“We at Andretti Sports Marketing are committed to making this event a world class experience and we anticipate a long and great relationship with Formula E.”

No details of the specific venue for the Miami race have been announced, although a Formula E statement on Friday said it would be staged "downtown".
