BERWICK have completed their team-building for 2014 with the signings of Matthew Wethers, Liam Carr and Steen Jensen.Wethers returns to the Bandits from this year’s side whilst 17-year-old local rider Carr steps into regular Premier League racing for the first time, and former Eastbourne and Isle of Wight man Jensen makes a return to the UK after impressive recent form in Denmark.Berwick Director George Hepburn said: “Matty was happy to be a Bandit last year, and is clearly delighted to return to Shielfield Park for the coming new season, and no-one here can fail to be delighted to see our Tweedmouth schoolboy (Carr) continuing his steady progress towards speedway stardom.“We knew other clubs were interested in Steen who was ultra-keen to return to British Speedway and we have worked hard behind the scenes to get him to Berwick.”

SCUNTHORPE have confirmed a major team sponsorship deal with local hydraulics and pneumatics suppliers FluidAir Power Ltd.The company had previously taken out advertising with the Scorpions and sponsored individual riders, but promoter Rob Godfrey says their elevation to full team backing is a significant boost for the club.He said: “It’s a bigger financial deal then we’ve ever had before. If we can entertain their sponsors here and give them a good night out at speedway at the same time, that’s what we want to do.“They’re a growing company, who have just moved premises, and they want to step up and increase their profile. Things are looking good and this deal enables us to compete with everyone else at Premier League level.”

KENT have signed Simon Lambert to be the new No.1 for the Central Park National League club next season.Lambert takes over from Steve Boxall at the top of the line-up, and the Kings have also moved for Luke Chessell after receiving news that Jack Kingston was unable to commit to their Monday race-night.The top five is completed by 2013 returnees Ben Morley, David Mason and Benji Compton, with two new reserves expected to be signed.Kent co-promoter Roger Cearns said: “I think the Kings will no longer be the poor relations of the National League and it is far more likely that we will be challenging for honours.”

COVENTRY Storm have made Ryan Terry-Daley their fourth signing for the 2014 National League season.The 19-year-old will be going into his first full campaign of league racing, but he gained plenty of experience as part of the Coventry set-up this year and will now team up with Martin Knuckey at reserve.Co-boss Blayne Scroggins said: “Ryan had some outings last season after coming through the Midland Development League, he’s been chomping at the bit and now he’s got the opportunity to prove himself.“We’re pleased to have him in the team from the start, and it will mean another asset of the club racing for the Storm, which is all good for the future.”

BIRMINGHAM have snapped up Great Britain international Edward Kennett for the 2014 season.Kennett, who says Perry Barr is one of his favourite tracks, spent last season with Swindon but a lack of regular racing affected his form. Next year he will double-up with the Brummies having also been named as Rye House’s No.1 in the Premier League.Kennett said: “Birmingham did really well this year finishing top of the league, and it would be nice if we can have another good season next year as well.“We’ve got all British riders so far which is good to see and most of us know each other pretty well anyway which should help in the early part of the season.”

NATIONAL League runners-up King’s Lynn Young Stars have completed the signing of Darryl Ritchings for the 2014 season.Ritchings rode for the Isle of Wight, whose future remains uncertain, this year and now joins Lewis Rose and Josh Bailey in the side at the Norfolk Arena.Manager Dale Allitt said: “Darryl is the type of rider we want at the club, he is young and ambitious. He will fit in well with what we are trying to do with the Young Stars.”Ritchings added: “I’m really happy to be at King’s Lynn. It’s one of my favourite tracks and I am looking forward to next season.”
