Top Ten for Javier Ibren in Abu Dhabi Trofeo Maserati World Series finale

The Yas Marina Circuit, always a difficult venue and absolutely unknown to the Spanish driver, saw Ibran finish in the top ten at the wheel of his Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo.

Javier Ibran competed at some classic and famous venues all round the world in the 2013 Trofeo Maserati World Series. After Paul Ricard, Nurburgring, Silverstone, Sonoma and Shanghai, the Valencia-born driver approached the season finale at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi at an unknown circuit

Ibren completed had a rapid adaptation programme despite a brake problem. In the free practice sessions he was not far from the top-ten places in Trofeo class

He put in excellent performances in bothraces, as he overtook several rivals. In race one he finished 12th and then in race two improved to finish 10th, with Ibran recognizing it was one of his best races ever. Finally the season came to an end in race three, consisting of 50 minutes and longer than the previous ones. There Ibran finished 12th but his pace by the end was quite fast, and he was able to overtake several cars.

“It was a problematic weekend. Qualifying sessions were not as expected but my races were an enriching experience”, Ibran explained, stating that “race three, our last race this year, was quite chaotic, because I passed several cars but they were cutting the chicane just to stay ahead of me! They didn´t serve the drive through penalty either so… Anyway I enjoyed the races, in spite of my results could have been much better. Now we need to start working on next season, when I will team up with my friend and great driver Alvaro Fontes, sharing a Ginetta G55 GT4. I do believe it will be a season with plenty of excitement and thrill”.
