BELLE Vue newcomer Scott Nicholls enjoyed success in America with victory in the weekend’s California-staged Monster Invitational meeting. The seven-time British Champion ended on top of a star-packed field, heading home former UK regulars Charlie Venegas and Billy Janniro in the Final after Poole skipper Darcy Ward had crashed out. Edward Kennett (Birmingham/Rye House) and Ricky Wells (Wolverhampton/Workington) made the semi-finals.Nicholls said: “I have really enjoyed myself tonight. The track was a little slick in the Final but I made the decision to make the switch on the first corner and the win was mine. “I have been on a family holiday in the States so this meeting was part of the trip. It’s a perfect way to end 2013 and hopefully I can have more success in 2014.”
