V8 Ute young-gun signs 5 year deal with Erebus Motorsport

Auto One Racer, Adam “The Menace” Marjoram, will continue his journey in the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series driving for Erebus Motorsport. The 21 year old West Aussie has signed a 5 year deal with the prestigious team, with the aim of eventually moving into the V8 Supercar Series. The move will also see him step into the Erebus Motorsport Academy Program.

Marjoram couldn’t have hoped for anything better to start the New Year and is looking forward to an exciting season under the Erebus Motorsport banner.

“Erebus approached me last year to be a part of Erebus Motorsport for the 2014 season, I thought that would be awesome so said yes. I’ve also been inducted into the Academy, which will give me great opportunities to learn about V8 Supercars and being a sports person in general. Barry Ryan (General Manager, Erebus Motorsport) has been fantastic in facilitating everything, so I have the best opportunity to learn,” said Marjoram.

The young-gun will drive Clifton Campbell’s owned Holden VE, (driven by Tony Longhurst in 2013), with continued backing from Auto One and is grateful for the opportunity.

“Wayne Williams from Williams Race Tech was awesome to work with in my first year on the V8 Utes stage, he gave me great assistance in learning and provided a good car, so a massive thanks to him,” said Marjoram.

Erebus Motorsport General Manager, Motorsport, Barry Ryan, believes Adam will be a great attribute to the Erebus V8 Utes Program.

“To be successful in V8 Utes requires the same dedication as any other category - it is a strong stepping stone for young drivers like Adam to develop important racing attributes such as the opportunity to learn tracks, work with engineers and within a team, learn data, along with sponsor, fan and media liaison.

“By bringing Adam, South Coast Racing and Auto One under our umbrella, we’re able to add to our pool of drivers, but also add some fantastic corporate support from the likes of Auto One and a well-known motorsport personality in Adam.

This program assists us in providing a pathway for young drivers, and Adam’s commitment to the V8 Utes for this reason is the epitome of what Erebus Motorsport is aiming to achieve.”

V8 Ute Category Manager, SPHERIX’S, Craig Denyer, sees the deal as a reflection of how important the Series is now to up and coming drivers in their journey to become a professional driver.

“This shows the continued support and faith Erebus Motorsport has for the V8 Ute Series, also investing their time in supporting the V8 Utes Rookie of the Year Program. The deal with Adam once again cements the V8 Ute Series as a true feeder category to V8 Supercars. We have a lot of young talent coming through the Series with Adam, Jesse Dixon and 2013 V8 Ute Rookie of the Year, Elliot Barbour, who won a test drive with Erebus Motorsport as part of that prize. If any driver wants to learn race-craft, the V8 Ute Series is one of the closest and toughest series in the country, and it’s great to see such a leading and professional motorsport team such as Erebus Motorsport continue their strong support of the V8 Ute Series,” said Denyer.

Learning from his Rookie mistakes, Marjoram is looking forward to the year ahead and is hoping for an improvement on his 2013 season.

“Last year, we were always around top ten and top five at stages too, although I got caught up in many other people’s incidents, my whole aim is consistency and that is how you build a championship,” said Marjoram.

Marjoram will take to the track in his Auto One/Erebus Motorsport Holden VE for the first time at the Clipsal 500 27 February – 2nd March.
