LAKESIDE have agreed a deal with Workington for the full transfer of the Hammers’ 2013 Rider of the Year Richard Lawson. The 27-year-old returns to the Arena-Essex Raceway this season after a successful first campaign in the club’s colours, whilst the Comets retain a buy-back clause by agreement of all three parties.Lakeside promoter Jon Cook said: “Richard is a crucial part of our team for 2014 and this move shows our commitment to working with him to become an established Elite League rider in the years ahead. “It makes sense for us both to know that those efforts come with the security for Richard of knowing he has a long term future at this club and for us that it reaps the benefits of his development. He has a great affection for the Comets and it's appropriate that they should retain an option because of that.”

LIAM Carr will remain with Buxton in the National League this year – having made a major impact for the Hitmen in the second half of last season.Carr joined the Hi-Edge club midway through the campaign on a 3.61 average, and came close to doubling that figure with a run of form which has also helped him secure a Premier League berth with Berwick.Carr said: “In 2014 at Buxton I want to improve my average again by at least 1.5 points and I aim to be No.1 at some point during the year, if not all year!“I want to help the team connect and ride well as a unit, with everyone helping each other when they're struggling for form or have an off-day. I want to give back to Buxton for putting faith in me in 2013 and it would be nice to bring some silverware to the club.”
