British driver Jack Aitken is taking the next step in his motor racing career, moving up to the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship with Fortec Motorsports for 2014.2013 was a strong year for the 18 year old from London. In only his second season in single seater racing Jack was runner up in the Formula Renault NEC Championship, taking the fight to the final round. He was also invited to join the British Racing Drivers Club ‘Rising Stars’ programme and was chosen to be one of six finalists for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. This season will set particular challenges for Jack as he combines his Eurocup campaign with his final year of ‘A’ level examinations at school. He will remain with Fortec Motorsports with whom he has raced since entering single seater competition two years ago. "I had a good 2013, narrowly missing out on the NEC championship and finishing within the top 10 in Eurocup wild card races,” says Jack. “I am very excited about 2014, which started with me attending the Autosport International show representing the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award through interview sessions on stage and driving in the Live Action Arena every day. I am very happy to have signed with Fortec again as I believe they are one of the best teams in motorsport, and because continuity is important in such a competitive series.”Jamie Dye, Managing Director, Fortec Motorsports adds, “We are delighted that we are keeping Jack for another season at Fortec Motorsports. We know that his speed and experience will place him firmly as a front runner in the Euro Cup championship, strengthening the team for our 2014 challenge.”All seven rounds (of two races each) of the 2014 Eurocup will form meetings of the World Series by Renault season.
