Tutumlu debuts in Rolex 24

Isaac Tutumlu makes his official debut in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, taking part in the season opener in Daytona. Tutumlu, Barcelona-born of Kurdish roots, will drive a Starworks Motorsport Oreca FLM09 shared with Alex Popow, Martín Fuentes, Kyle Marcelli and Pierre Kaffer.

After claiming the titles in the Spanish Iber GT championship and Endurance Trophy IberGT, and finishing several times on the podium of the International GT Open, Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team head towards this new American championship, visiting some famous and world-known venues during the process.

The season starts with the celebration of the 24 hours of Daytona“I have arrived to Miami, as I want to prepare this difficult race properly. It will be a formidable challenge once again and perhaps Daytona could be even harder than Dubai, because the PC car is more physically demanding than a GT car. So I have to train hard”, Tutumlu explains from the United States. About this opportunity, he comments that “it is so amazing to be here. Because I firmly believe that our chances to achieve a good result in Daytona are rather good. My season kicked off finishing on the podium in Dubai, and here I don´t exclude the possibility of winning our class. Like any big endurance event is important to avoid problems during the race as much as possible, and at the end to be able of attacking. A good indication is when you stay away from the pits as much as possible. Again I would like to thank Barzani family, sponsors and Starworks Motorsport their strong support, because they play an important part”.There will be plenty of activity on track on Thursday, when free and qualifying sessions take place. Then, on Saturday, the race begins at 14.1 (GMT-5).
