WORKINGTON have named Rene Bach as their new captain for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.Bach, who became a Comets asset earlier this winter, replaces Richard Lawson who has switched to rivals Redcar, and his first match in the role will be the home leg of the Ian Thomas Shield against Newcastle on March 22.Workington owner Laura Morgan said: “We were delighted that Rene immediately agreed to take on the role of team captain this year when we offered it to him. Alongside Rich, Rene was keen to advise and support his team-mates throughout last season. He was frequently at the pit gate motivating the others and was often first out on track to celebrate a success.“Rene has some excellent leadership qualities which I am sure he will build on during the season. He has tremendous self motivation, is very knowledgeable on and off track, and he possesses a burning desire to win. I am confident that he is the man for the job.”
